Kitchen Tool Review: Bamboo Steamer

Bamboo Steamer

Average Price: $19.42

Advantages: Easy to clean, make quick and healthy meals, and can cook a wide variety of ingredients

Disadvantages: Some of the condensed water that forms during cooking, drips right back onto the food, the bulkiness and size of the steamer, and you need to have a pot that is a size larger than your bamboo steamer

Personal Rating: 3.1/5

Review: Although there are some disadvantages including size of the bamboo steamer, it has many advantages that vastly contribute to the quality and taste of your meal. I would buy a bamboo steamer if your into cooking healthy and cooking (preferably Asian) cuisines. It depends on your situation whether you should buy the steamer or not.

Restaurant Review: Gokul

Gokul Restaurant

Location: Dublin, OH

Google Rating: 3.7/5

Personal Rating: 4.4/5

Review: Gokul’s location itself is in an urban area with many stores including a couple of Indian grocery stores and restaurants (Patel Brothers, Aab India, and an Indian AMC Movie Theater). As you enter in, you are greeted by the front desk along with restrooms on your right. When you go to take a seat, some of the walls are a little bit tattered but it is still in renovation. Personally, I ordered a Samosa along with Paneer Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan. Based off of the look of the restaurant, I was a little doubtful of the quality and taste of the food. When our food arrived, it looked extremely appetizing, but was served in Dixie paper plates which brought my hope back down. As soon as I put the first bite into my mouth, I was amazed. The Tikka Masala here tasted substantially better here than at any other restaurant. The Samosa was the usual with great mixture of the peas and potatoes with the samosa perfectly heated. I gave Gokul a 4.4/5 because the food was stunning but the ambience could be better. I would highly recommend trying out the food here, and if you are not in favor of the ambience, you can always pre-order your food and take it home with you.

Chinese Pear Herbal Tonic Soup

ChineseSouo

Herbal foods and medicines have been used to cure illnesses for almost about 60,000 years. Sometimes foods that have a herbal touch are added for taste which gives the food an overall sense of contentment. In this specific soup, there are a couple of herbal components added which include Fritillary Bulb, Honey Dates, and The Northern Apricot Kernel. Many herbal soups in general cure a certain temporary illness like sniffing and coughing.

Gyoza (Pot Stickers)

PotStickersGyoza, also known as Pot Stickers, are one of the main dishes eaten during Chinese New Year. These Pot Stickers were accidentally made by a chef in China’s Imperial Court when the dumplings were left on the stove for too long. I found a great recipe on AllRecipes which presents you the traditional method of creating these pork and veggie-filled packs of flour.
